The history of the Ku Klux Klan or
KKK can be traced back to the late 19th century when the rise of the Invisible Empire was seen as a threat to the social fabric of the society. The Ku Klux Klan is not only associated with groups who are white supremacy followers but is also related to groups bearing the themes of anti-Semitism, racism, nativism and anti-Catholicism, all hatred or bigotry that has no place in the country.
In order to spread the message, the organization Ku Klux Klan used to burn the cross and do lynching and follow other acts of terrorism, intimidation and violence. Majority of the victims of KKK, were African-Americans at that time; also other people who followed other ideology than of the KKK became the point of violence. The KKK were largely eradicated due to the effective actions by the FBI led by the legendary J Edgar Hoover but remnants of the ideology and organization still persist in America till this day.
After analyzing the history of the Ku Klux Klan, 3 separate stages can be made of them. The first stage comes after the American Civil War when the government was weak and there were fears of an African American insurgent against their former masters. The ideology carried by the white supremacy groups that were Men of Justice, Pale Faces and White Brotherhood didn't follow the name KKK as a formal name at that time.
The name KKK was only taken in 1866 as the rich landowners funded the organization to maintain the status quo with its heritage in exploiting slaves to man the cotton fields. The KKK derived from the word "Kuklos" that is of Greek language. The different smaller groups merged into the popular group that KKK and in just a short time the organization became quite popular. The KKK made their objectives fulfilled by spreading the terror by means of whipping, lynching and murdering especially. Not only the African Americans became victims but also the carpetbaggers faced the violence by them. Carpetbaggers are basically the ones who are migrated from the South towards North for the purpose of financial means. In the fight for invisible empire, the romantic notion was being introduced and that made the KKK quite successful. The bitterness was still there in the heart of the retired army enlisters and for this reason they chosen.
